Our horticulture class visited Mr. Garner’s Woodbury Pines Christmas Tree Farm to learn the science of Christmas tree production, then practiced hands-on wreath-making using a generous greenery donation from Tommy’s Produce.
Meanwhile, Intro to Plant Systems students joined KWHS’s 100 Acts of Kindness initiative and made beautiful holiday wreaths for our hardworking custodial staff. Students shared gratitude and learned how much our custodians do each day — a heartwarming way to say “thank you.” 💚🙌

Our World Civilizations students presented their final projects yesterday and the creativity was off the charts. Students designed everything from political systems to landscapes and loved bringing their worlds to life.
DE US History students turned the classroom into a museum! 🎓🗺️ They built 3D artifacts and led tours on early American eras—creative, hands-on history.

🎨👻 Our students recreated the French Surrealist game Exquisite Corpse using cardboard: groups of three each designed a different section of a monster, then joined their parts to form wonderfully bizarre creatures. The monsters were displayed around the school, delighting and occasionally startling passersby with jump‑scares and big laughs.
Acts of service is our favorite gift during the holiday season! This year Service Learning I, II, and III spent the month of December helping sort toys for Toys for Tots at the CornerStone Community Development Center. We loved helping find the perfect gift for each child! #CornerstoneCommunityDevelopmentCenter

The highlight? Every single student was a budgeting superstar at Dollar Tree! They all purchased gifts and completed their shopping without going over budget. Following lunch at McDonald's, they returned to school and carefully wrapped their presents. Seeing them apply their classroom lessons in the community is truly rewarding!

Did someone say dodgeball for a cause? Today our Service Learning classes hosted a spirited dodgeball tournament and raised money for Mechanics of Faith — an amazing organization that gives mechanical help to veterans and community members in need.
Huge thanks to all the students, staff, and supporters who played, cheered, and donated. Your energy turned a fun game into real community impact!

KWHS 2nd-Year Horticulture Class would like to thank the Upper Mattaponi Tribe for inviting us to visit their Tribal Grounds! Students were able to witness first-hand the tribe’s comprehensive plant production processes, and were impressed by the extensive uses Tribal Members derive from every part of the plants they grow.
KWHS will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10th, which is a B day. We're excited to have everyone back in the building!
Greetings! The current weather forecast for Friday morning continues to predict snowfall with up to several inches of accumulation by 8:00 AM, which is likely to create hazardous road conditions for the morning commute. As a result, and with safety in mind, all KWCPS schools and offices will be closed for in-person learning on Friday, December 5. Students will have an asynchronous Flex/Remote Learning day at home. Maintenance/custodial staff will be contacted by their supervisor regarding work hours, if needed. We will continue to monitor weather, road, and facility conditions throughout the day and provide additional updates to families and staff as needed. Have a safe weekend ahead!

Our SODA (Student Organization for Developing Attitudes) students did an awesome job volunteering at the 4th grade Colonial Day celebration today. They spent the day helping out in classrooms while the 4th grade teachers led sessions on colonial life.
The kids loved having them there, and our SODA students jumped right in wherever they were needed. We're so proud of how they represented KWHS!

What a fantastic experience for Ms. Compton's and Mrs. Funai's students! They successfully executed a full Thanksgiving Feast—from start to finish!
This project was a great lesson in practical math and real-world budgeting. The students planned the entire meal, created a shopping list, and stayed within budget while shopping for all the fixings at Food Lion. We are so proud of their teamwork and skills!
The feast was delicious, and it wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful community partners. Thank you so much to Food Lion and Mrs.Yolanda Smith for generously donating the turkey and ham! Your support truly elevated the experience.
