Greetings, KWCPS Families & Students!

We hope this message finds you well after the July 4 holiday weekend! Now that we have reached summer's halfway point, we also hope the remainder of your summer is enjoyable, as well. Our teams are busy preparing schools for the return of staff and students in August and we are excited for the new school year ahead! Below is some information you may find helpful:

  • Welcome New Principals! We are pleased to welcome Ms. Ashley Ward (KWHS) and Dr. Kristen Weidle (HHMS) to their respective roles! Both principals are excited to welcome everyone back to school and will be communicating more regularly with students and families soon!

  • Save the Date! The August Open House events are being planned for Thursday, August 15:

    • 3:00-4:00 PM - Pre-Kindergarten, Adaptive Program, Kindergarten (CSPS)

    • 4:00-6:00 PM - Grades 1-5 (CSPS and AES)

    • 4:00-7:00 PM - Grades 6-12 (HHMS and KWHS)

  • 2024-25 SY Meal Prices - Recently, the School Board approved new meal prices for the 2024-25 school year:

    • Breakfast - $2.00 (student) and $3.25 (adult)

    • Lunch - $3.60 (student) and $5.75 (adult)

    • The 2024-25 Free and Reduced Price Meal Application can be found by   clicking here.

  • Community Town Hall on Opioid Awareness - The King William County government, in partnership with law enforcement, schools, and other community service agencies, is planning a town hall event on Thursday, August 8 at 6:00 PM at HHMS. The purpose of this event is to help educate the community about the nature of the opioid epidemic, its adverse impacts on families and communities, and provide information and resources to community members about ways to address the broad range of substance abuse issues. This event is open to students, families, staff, and the general public.

  • PowerSchool "Returning Student Registration" - This week, parents will receive an automated email from PowerSchool Enrollment inviting them to log into PowerSchool to complete the annual "Returning Student Registration" for the 2024-25 school year. Parents will use the Parent Portal in PS to access the online registration process. A "Returning Student Registration" form must be submitted for each enrolled student in your family. Look for this email and directions before the end of the week.

    • Parents - while completing this registration process, be sure to update "Contact" information to include the most current cell phone numbers and email addresses. This will help ensure that messages like this one are able to be received.

  • New KWCPS "Branding" Campaign - Later this summer, the school division will begin a campaign to collect ideas and other feedback from students, staff, families, and community on a new "brand" for KWCPS, including a unique logo and tagline. We'll send another announcement once the campaign is ready to launch; in the meantime, we encourage you to begin thinking about what a new school division logo might look like (shape, colors, words, symbols, graphics, etc.), as well as ideas for a possible tagline to best represent our entire school community!

  • Upcoming School Board Meetings - Tuesday, July 16 and Tuesday, August 20 (both regular business meetings at 7:00 PM). Meetings are audio-streamed live and always open to students, families, staff, and the public.

  • Monday, August 19 - First day of school for students!

Please don't hesitate to contact your child's school if you have any questions. We wish you and your family a restful remainder of summer and look forward to seeing you again in the weeks ahead. Thank you for supporting our schools, our staff, and our students!

Kind regards,

Charles A. Wagner, Ed.D.
